a post about the weather

Just a scan – Still chugging a long.   Hopefully to be done by this weekend?

In other news, it is HOT outside.  I know it’s boring to talk about the weather, so can we address the fact that:

a. Early April should NOT be 90 degrees?

b. It should NOT be too hot to run at 6:30AM in early April.

Also, did anyone here watch The Adventures of Pete and Pete when they were younger?  Remember the episode with the phone that just.keeps.ringing?  This seems to have happened outside my apartment.  Every morning between 7 and 8 am there is a phone that rings for pretty much the whole hour.  Weird, no?

pieces

A quick scan of what I’ve sorta been working on.

I was in NY last weekend and obviously didn’t get much work done.  I did see a great paper show at the Museum of Art and Design, met up with Jen Collins (whom I met through Brown Paper Bag!) and hung around Red Hook in my friend’s wonderful new apartment.

dog days are over

No post yesterday, so today!

Sometimes I procrastinate because I know I have to paint and don’t want to.  It’s not for lack of enjoyment – it is because I have such limited space on my desk to do so.  I wish my work space was large enough to accommodate such wishes.

In other news, I did a little impromtu cleaning this evening and found a couple of things:

1. an old, skinny brown leather belt that I thought was gone FOREVER.

2. my N64.  I needed that a few months back.

3. my extra yoga mat.  doesn’t do me much good though, because the one I stole is so.much.better.

beginnings

Armed with two discs of Dexter (the third season IS pretty boring compared to the first two seasons, but at this point I’m working towards the 4th season finale), I was pretty unsuccessful in working on freelance projects last night.  I just couldn’t seem to get anything right.  When I started on this, however, things seem to fall into place much better:

Above:  A project for Brown Paper Bag.  I am sending this across the pond to the lovely Thereza Rowe so she can play around with it.  I’ll let you know when its up on BPB.

Also, a recipe I really like:  I have attempted to turn my diet from carnivorous to vegetarian, and so far it’s going pretty well.  It especially helps with recipes like this, that are both tasty and filling and don’t make me miss eating meat.  Tortilla and black bean pie.

in progess and blog talk

Wednesday already, huh!  Still chugging along on this piece:

I didn’t add too much to it last night, but there is another part (the giant man – I am redoing him) that I didn’t post.  That will be for FRIDAY, when I finish this.

Also I have been working on another blog to be launched around Valentines Day that won’t really be about me at all, but will be more about works on paper that I like. A more professional blog.  Marshmellow Kisses will still be around, but it won’t be as frequently posted in and will be more personal work than it is now.  Stay tuned!

With the new blog, I’ve been working through wordpress.org rather than wordpress.com.  It’s amazing the amount of content-managed sites that are built using wordpress.org.  Big names – CNN, People.com, etc., all use the wordpress source.

over my useless weekend

I am still working on the same piece I’ve been working on for a while now —  I was hoping that I could finish it this past weekend but Sunday rendered me utterly useless.  Plus,  I took out the guy I had originally in the piece because I want to redo him.  I’m also working on another blog (which I will be launching around Valentine’s Day!) so I’ve been slowly learning some code and reading tutorials on how to make a more dynamic blog by using wordpress.org and not wordpress.com.

The background on this is done for the most part – really, there isn’t too much left!  My goal is to finish this by FRIDAY.  Let’s see if I can make it happen!

in progress end of the line

For this week, I continued on what I have been previously working on- last week it was the mountains.  Over the weekend, it was the waves.  Now, it’s the giant man from the story End of the Line.  His character is rather dense and somewhat of a bully.

The story’s tone is rather sad, so I’ve been using a neutral base (such as the brown paper) and applying some color to each element to mute everything.

He will have a background behind him that I am currently working on.   I hope to finish the entire piece by this weekend.  We’ll see!  I think it can be done.
